Night began to fall upon the hospital, creating an eerie blackness inside that would make even the toughest canine wary of entering. The sun slowly sank below the horizon, casting its orange and purple hues out into the sky. Only a few of the brightest stars were out, as fluffy clouds hid most of them behind their billowy frames. A slight chill was in the air, signaling that the night was only going to get colder. A breeze flitted through the abandoned hospital, carrying with it the stench of mold and decay. Medical equipment was scattered across all areas of the hospital, making some parts inaccessible because of the stacks of debris. Rats scuffled in the shadows, their squeaking echoing down the halls of the building.
No other sounds were audible besides the squeaking of the rats and light paw-steps moving quickly through the building. The paw-steps were careful not to make too much noise, maneuvering their way silently towards their destination. The agility and carefulness of the paw-steps signified a canine who was professional at moving quietly and quickly. The shadow crept alongside the walls of the building, careful not to expose too much of himself. He was home, but it came out of habit to always be on guard. The shadow finally entered the safe-zone in the west wing of the hospital, moving along the safe road of the obstacle course his gang had set up for intruders. The more stuff was outside, the noisier they would be, and the gang would hear them immediately. Only members of the gang knew the safe route that took them directly to the home base.
Ezra finally arrived home, nudging his way through a set of wide double doors into what used to be a large common room. On each side of the common room were hallways that led to smaller bedrooms where the gang members slept. At the back of the common room was another set of double doors that led to a spacious room with an outside balcony. Apparently it used to be an office, but Ezra claimed it as his room of solace. His job as Commander-in-Chief was stressful, and he needed a place where he could relax and watch the sun set without any interruptions. He loved his alone time, and always reminded the gang members to give him space. He couldn't always be bothered with trivial matters, as that was what Vitani was for. He smiled at the thought of his Second-in-Command and couldn't be more proud at having such a fine female in the position. She was strong-willed and authoritative, just like himself. He was so relieved when he found her, as he was starting to lose it on the drama within the pack. Her nature made it easy for her to settle the disputes without too much trouble, and the gang members actually respected her. He had bigger, more important things to worry over, not fights over who went on patrol last and who got the last piece of rabbit. Ezra laughed to himself, thinking that even the toughest brutes such as The Black's could have such petty issues.
The large Malinois padded towards the back of the common room, muttering to himself about the lack of cleaning. The common room was filthy, with scattered bones everywhere and random human objects. He pushed his way through the double doors at the end and stepped into his sanctuary. Ezra breathed a sigh of relief and closed his eyes, drawing in the scents of the night from the open patio doors. At last, some peace, Ezra groaned, flopping onto his bed of oversized couch cushions and pillows. He didn't feel like sleeping, only relaxing and listening to the sounds of the night. It had been a rough week, as they had successfully completed about three missions. He was utterly exhausted and just felt like laying down and enjoying some peace and quiet.

He was away and that meant she was in charge of The Black Shadow Saints, a gang of rag tag brutes and curs servicing the NewWaif area with a healthy dose of justice and management. They weren't as disorganized as their varying appearances suggested, they were all skilled fighters capable of hanging with the best of them and they all had the scars to prove it. The night was eerie in its calmness, the stars shone with a brilliance unequalled but heavy clouds soon replaced their glimmer with the opaque dankness of their own. It was already chilly but the oppressive clouds signaled for it to become even frostier, not that it would bother Vitani. She had been blessed with a thick luxurious double coat, scars criss-crossed its frontier, a testament to her warrior nature. She was still beautiful, even with patches of gray maligning her bodice, places where skin and flesh had been ripped so often color had stopped returning to it.
She rose to feminine paws, stretching her hind legs behind her in lupine yoga, yawning with the endorphins sudenly released. A salmon tongue fell free of a heavily scarred maw, a sign of her comfortability within the hospital, the gang had fallen asleep around her, a literal dogpile. They were a family, militant in discipline and loyal to their leaders, they might have been a rough and tumble gang but a wholesome goodness surrounded them. When scraps arose she crushed them as swiftly as they begun, her regulation of them was strict and at first they had balked against her command. But she had tempered her strictness with reward, like her father had said so often "Good dogs get things..bad ones earn punishment." and it was from this mantra that she had gained their respect. She was simple in her discipline, punishing only when it was needed and praising when it had been earned. Not only had her mantra helped in gaining their respect but also her punishing canines. Which weren't opposed to sinking into her sub ordinates, especially if her verbal warnings went unheeded, she was a nimble vixen and as soon as the teeth sank in, they were gone.
She plucked herself gingerly from the sleeping gang, starting her rounds around the hospital when her audits suddenly perked at a sound inside the hospital, a growl started in her throat. It died as soon as the familiar scent hit her nose, it was Ezra and he had finally returned from his patrol, something in her rose slightly, happy at his return. The way the scent was hitting her it was obvious that he was coming from the back entrance, making his way to his private quarters. She set off in the same direction, slender legs flashing out in a comfortable but brisk pace, heading for his quarters, Vitani was eager to hear of any news. Ezra was a great leader, he was of a few words but when he spoke everyone listened, he expected greatness in his gang and they strove to meet his expectations. He was militant in the way he handled his gang and they all responded like the well trained soldiers that they were, he was concise and clear in his ruling..failure under his rule was foreign. To the outside world he was cold and a beast but she had bore witness to some of his softer moments and could testify that most assumptions about him were incorrect. She made it to his quarters before he did and so she let herself onto his balcony, rocking back on her hind legs and placing forepaws on the ledge so she could look out into the hospital yard. It was barren in its landscape, littered only by the abandoned two-leg things, but it was beautiful in its own eerie way.
She heard him enter the room, grunting in exhaustion as he plopped himself down on his plush pillows, lamenting at his sudden peace. He truly was exhausted, it was unlike him to not notice everything around him, she lightly replaced her forepaws on the marbled floor. Padding softly into the room, a smile creased her face, he was handsome still, even with his scars...she was attracted to scars anyways. "Exhaustion will be the death of you Ezra if you don't learn what relaxation is soon." She chided softly, padding closer to him before laying down in front of him, toffee rimmed eyes looking him over. "How was the patrol..?" She asked in the same soft tone, she would leave him alone if he requested, he was the quiet natured anyways.

Exhaustion will be the death of you Ezra if you don't learn what relaxation is soon. Ezra almost jumped at the sound of Vitani's voice, but managed to keep himself calm. He wanted to give off the impression that he knew she was there, and just didn't acknowledge it. It would be detrimental to his position as Commander-in-Chief if he relaxed with an intruder in the room, unknown to him. The large Malinois smiled up at his Second-in-Command, his light chocolate eyes shimmering with amusement. I was wondering when you would make your appearance, Vitani. However I have to say I'm glad for the intrusion, it's nice to have some enjoyable company, Ezra responded smoothly as he looked kindly upon the female.
She was an attractive canine, and Ezra greatly admired her mottled pelt that masked the many scars that lay underneath. It was obvious she was battle-worn, but that's what Ezra found so attractive about her. She wasn't afraid to get her paws dirty, and he couldn't help but find a great interest in her. The patrol was quite dull actually. We managed to cover the entire north side of the territory and found nothing. No sign that anyone had been there for weeks, if not longer. If the tip about us having enemies watching us closely on our territory is true, they're either going to come from the east or west. We checked the south border last week and also turned up empty. Let's just hope we catch these guys before they decide to come closer to home, Ezra's kind face suddenly turned stern as he spoke about gang matters. One of their outside informants caught wind of a rumor that a band of rogues who greatly despised the work of The Black's were making camp along one of our borders, plotting their attack. The rumor seemed far-fetched but Ezra felt the need to check it out anyway. He decided he would start a patrol in the morning to cover the west border.
Lost in thought, Ezra turned back to his second mate and smiled, wanting to remove all negativity from their current conversation. He enjoyed talking with Vitani and didn't want it ruined by gang business. Anyway, enough of business talk. What brings you to my quarters? Surely a question about the patrol could've waited until morning, Ezra smiled slyly, his eyes twinkling with the curiosity he felt about the situation. Surely she had other ideas in mind when she came into his room, and Ezra purely wanted to hear her say that maybe she just wanted to hang out with her superior. Ezra's position had left him no room for relaxation and leisure, and he sorely missed just being able to talk and hang out. If he were to do that with anyone, he was certain he wanted that with Vitani.

A smile almost ran rampant across her face at his soft statement, he was happy to have her near and it made her feminine ego swell slightly. She had known that he was truly exhausted but he had played it off smoothly, he would never admit that he had been to tired to take in every aspect of his surroundings. His eyes shimmered at her and her toffee rimmed orbits met his gaze with a tender look. He was handsome, a leader, scarred...something she was attracted too, and he was Ezra..she couldn't deny the attraction though still mild that she felt for him.
She listened to her alpha describe the patrol, watching the expression of light hearted contentedness melt from his face only to be replaced by a stern mug. He was comical in that aspect, his face always shifted with his subject, displaying the tenacity he held for the Black Shadow Saints. She listened to him carefully, erect audits strained in his direction to catch every word, she dipped her head to rest on her delicate paws, keeping hazel lenses locked on Ezra. She was worried slightly about the validity of the rumor, if they didn't explore every posibility of it, he would never forgive himself. The Black Shadow Saints weren't just any gang though, they were powerfrul, disciplined warriors all deserving of their posistions within the gang.
If there was a patrol to be done in the morning she would have loved to be by his side, but she knew her duties would be at the homefront ensuring it stayed orderly. She didn't much care what their conversations were about, their company whether silent or met with words, was a companionable and comfortable one. His next question threw her a little bit..she wasn't quite sure how to address it without it being innapropriate or awkward. She closed her toffee explosions and pondered over his question, it had been soft in its probing and tender in approach. "Hmm, is it too odd for a loyal second in command to miss her Alpha in his absence." She answered affectionately, a warm tone automatically filling her lyrics whenever she spoke with him. Vitani knew he grew lonely in the strictness the Alpha position forced and she was happy to offer her company to him.
She rolled to her side, huffing slightly in relaxtion, she hadn't really slept in his absence, staying awake in case he had returned early. She had dozed off here and there but nothing really rewarding in its regenerative process. "Face it...you like him." She thought to herself..of course she did, Ezra was her Alpha.."No, more than that...", the thought sprang into her head unbidden "Wow I really am tired." Vitani thought in a weak attempt at playing the thoughts off. Her breathing was slowing as her comfortability rose, she always felt safe in his presence and her guard always seemed to lower when in his presence. She laughed mentally, they had an odd companionship, one filled with tension although it wasn't wholly uncomfortable.. The light of the smoon slowly broke through the opaque clouds, bathing them in a silver bath..adding to the moment.

Ezra paused, smiling as he did so. He was happy to have been missed, but even more happy to be in her presence now. The large Malinois rested his head on his paws, his tail wagging happily. It might've been an odd image for any of the other members of the gang to see Ezra in this state, but he knew Vitani would hold no judgement. He was happy, and there was no apologizing for that. It's not odd at all. In fact, what would be odd is if you didn'tmiss me. Then we might have a problem, Ezra laughed, his eyes light with the joy that he felt.
Ezra rolled onto his back and gazed up at the stars that peeked through the night sky. It was a beautiful night and he didn't intend on wasting it. Suddenly, the male got antsy and felt the need to get up and run. He didn't know what compelled him to want to do that, but he felt tireless and full of energy. He stood up from his spot on his nest of cushions and smiled down at Vitani. Would such a wonderful second-in-command like to accompany me on a night walk? I suddenly have so much energy and the night feels so good, his voice was smooth and alluring as he tried to entice Vitani to join him. He moved over to the balcony fence and stood up, resting his paws on the top. He gazed out at their open territory, eyes naturally scanning for any negative signs. He saw the two of them racing through the woodland underneath the moonlight... Ezra told himself to snap out of it and leaped back down, his calm gaze falling on Vitani. I know I can be a hard-ass at times, but I promise we'll have fun, Ezra promised, his eyes inviting his second-in-command to join him. Sometimes he didn't know how to have fun, but he vowed to do his best to make the adventure enjoyable for Vitani. He couldn't remember the last time he had fun, especially with a female. His body twitched with anticipation, hoping Vitani would accept the offer.

She was resting with her eyes closed in the comfort of his secluded palace, although not asleep she seemed close to it with her level of comfortability in his quarters rising. Her sides heaved gently as she slowly beathed in and out, sucking in the cold nighttime air in small gasps, eyes fluttering slightly..the image of serenity. She opened toffee rimmed eyes to gaze back at him, something seemed to shift in his aura, a puppylike excitement tinged the air. She knew Ezra would never allow for this demeanor to be present in front of his sub-ordinates, instead choosing to present an emotionally ironclad warrior instead of this affectionate ruler. Vitani knew it was her treat to enjoy. She had kept audits trained in his direction, strained slightly so she didn't miss a word, rustling in mild impatience.
His words were laced with a soft affection that she responded too, warmth spreading into the length of her body providing for a sense of giddyness. His laughter was a rarity in itself and she couldn't help but huff in amusement, an involuntary response..not that she was horrorfied over it. Half hooded hazel explosions watched as her alpha rolled onto his back before rising to his impressive war torn stature, the sudden energy from earlier still present and strong as ever..he was a curious creature. She listened to his request, rolling back onto her belly and pushing delicate forelegs in front of her so she was in a sitting posistion, hazel orbits danced with a contained delight. His voice was low and intoxicating obviously hinting heavily at his accompanied adventures to start, she couldn't help but be enticed and responded with an equally alluring tone..soft and sultry in their resonanace. "I would love to accompany my Alpha." Referring to him in the same as he had her.
She rose to her feet and in the same swift movement shook her mottled pelt out, invigorating her slightly. Vitani's gaze followed him onto the balcony, watching as he assumed the position she had earlier. He was ever the thoughtful creature and her mind couldn't help but play out a scene of pleasantries, she thought slyly of inviting him for a game of tag when they were out and about, a coy smirk creased her maw. She listened to his next statement..he could be hard and militant in his drive but it didn't bother her, she saw his purpose and most everything he did was carried out into fruition. He was succesful and if it meant it was spawned from a hardened nature than so be it she thought mildly. "A hard ass or realist...succesful nonetheless." She responded kindly in return to him. "I'll hold you to that promise." She replied in a playful resonance, her tail wagging slowly in a friendly expression.
Vitani trotted to the back entrance of his quarters, casting a gaze over her shoulder to meet his, she noticed his slight twitch of excitement and tilted her cranium. "What am I getting myself into..?" She thought coyly. "Well are you coming?" She voiced, a slight tinge of seductiveness dripped into her words, hazel explosions twinkled with the unknown. Her slight structure slipped through the doorway and dissapeared into the darkness, her breathing faint and alluring as she waited for her alpha to join her.

Well are you coming? Ezra watched his beautiful second-in-command head over towards the entrance to his quarters, her voice alluring and her hazel eyes mesmerizing. As she disappeared into the darkness behind the doors, Ezra paused and thought about his plan of action. They were just going out to have fun, so there was no need for the seriousness he displayed during regular pack activities. He knew he needed to lighten up if he wanted Vitani to enjoy herself, so he gathered his bearings and followed the female.
Ezra quickened his pace, realizing that she was moving a lot faster than he expected. He saw her up in the distance, maneuvering her way gracefully through the rubble and trash of the hospital. Smiling, Ezra sped up, nipping her hindquarter as he ran past her. He let out a chuckle as he ran through a small hole in the wall of the hospital, sighing with relief as he felt the cool grass underneath his paws. The air was crisp and still, with the sounds of chirping crickets surrounding them. He turned to Vitani, his eyes light with a mix of amusement and joy. Where to now, my lady? he grinned, his eyes turning towards the shadows of the forest in the distance. They would have all the privacy they needed there, without the spying eyes of the other members of the gang. He wanted privacy because he didn't feel like hearing the gossip, or even answering to them. He wanted it just between the two of them, and he hoped Vitani felt the same.
The stars glittered overhead and Ezra felt on top of the world. He was with a beautiful female on a beautiful starry night, about to have a relaxing and enjoyable time. He couldn't remember the last time he actually set time aside to have some fun, and he was so glad Vitani had snuck into his room tonight.

Her body shivered with excitement and wonder for what was to come, they had a companionable bond but they had never ventured far with each other without the gang howling at their paws. Fangs and discipline ruled their everyday life but it was a relief to be able to drop the heaviness that came with it, Ezra was enticing she couldn't deny the small attraction she hid from him to herself. She was at least honest to that degree. She delicately picked her way through the rumble of the hospital yard, careful not to disturb it, not wanting the rest of the gang to awake and take notion on their late night outing...alone. Her breath was slightly shallow, caught in her throat from the pleasant anticipation snaking its way through the entirety of her body. She couldn’t help but wonder what kind of mischief that they would get up to, she thought briefly of his muscle made bodice brushing against her own warrior physique.
Her body lit up with electricity as she felt teeth..his teeth gently nip her hindquarters, her attention had wavered and she hadn't noticed him bringing up the rear. A small smirk crossed her scarred maw and her eyes twinkled with that feminine guile, toffee rimmed orbs dancing with a coy deviousness. She listened to his light hearted words and something in her lifted, it was nice to her a change of tone from the disciplined rumbling growl he always used, she felt privileged to see this part of him. She tipped her nose in the direction of the forest, it would be private and offered up a good jaunt if he was game..plus he seemed keen to venture there. She tiptoed her way through the rest of the rumble, she could hear excited breathing whether it was hers or his remained a mystery.
As soon as she was clear of the junk she bolted, delicate legs working like sudden pistons to launch her across the ground in impressive strides. Vitani knew he would be close behind, he himself was a formidable runner, so she ran without care, her tail lifted to the night. She looked over her shoulder calling out in charming lyrics. "Keep up if you can." Teasing him, she never noticed the steep embankment before she tumbled down it, she could hear him crashing down it, close behind her. Laughter erupted at her clumsiness and Vitani stayed where she had rolled to, rolling on her back to admire the stars through the heavy tree canopy.

Ezra fell behind Vitani, watching her closely as they ran off into the trees. He watched as the moonlight hit her pelt, making her dark fur shine under its light. He admired her quickness, slowly increasing his strides to keep up with her. He was proud of the fact that it took some effort to race after her, and it made him feel more confident in his choice for her to be his second-in-command. Ezra smiled, feeling free under the night sky.
He finally caught up to Vitani, a smile wide across his face. Well I caught up, didn't I? he barked, his voice light. They came to a ravine, however the pair didn't stop. Instead, they stumbled down its bank and continued on their way. The slightly cold wind whipped through his pelt, chilling him slightly. The spring air brought with it a wet coldness that was undesirable but bearable. He was just glad to be out of the building.
They ran through the forest, and Ezra would often nip gently at Vitani as they ran, just in a playful nature. He let out laughs as they whipped through the trees, feeling as free as ever. The tall Malinois looked to his right and noticed a large rocky outcrop that overlooked the valley. He slowed to a stop, beckoning with his tail for Vitani to follow. Hey, let's check this out, he called, nodding towards the outcrop. The large male ventured to the rocks and skillfully made his way up to the top. He looked out onto the valley, the sight catching his breath. It was dark, but the moon illuminated their headquarters in the distance as well as the vast expanse of the forest and valley that surrounded the building. One could see everything from up here.
